Horse Passports
The Cleveland Bay Horse Society is a designated Passport Issuing Organisation recognised by Defra.
The Society issues passports for Pure and Part Bred Cleveland Bays but also issues passports for non Cleveland Bays known as a British Horse Passport.
The Society administers transfer of ownership and other administrative enquiries in respect of all of these passports.
If you have a horse that requires a passport to comply with UK legislation or you wish to transfer ownership or change any other detail on your existing Passport please contact the Society office on 01423 546168 where we will be pleased to assist with your enquiry.
Please remember that from 1 July 2009 all horses in the UK that do not currently have passports are required to be microchipped.
To transfer the ownership you need to complete your details in the next box on the Breeders and Owners page of the passport. The previous owner should have signed the box at the bottom left of that section (Vendor’s signature) – if they have not a copy of a receipt will do. If they have not signed and you do not have a receipt we can still process the transfer but we will make a note on the passport and on the database that there was no proof of the transfer.
The current transfer fee is £15 and should be forwarded to the Society with the passport. Cheques should be made payable to The Cleveland Bay Horse Society. Payment can also be made by debit/credit card by phoning the office on 01423 546168 or by PayPal through the website by clicking on Merchandise, then Donations.
