Cleveland Bay Awareness Day (Ride A Bay Day)
Sunday 6th Spetember 2015 is this year's Cleveland Bay Awareness Day.
Formerly known as Ride A Bay Day, the name was changed to include the many people who owned Cleveland Bays but didn't ride them. This annual event was started to help to raise the public's awareness about the plight of the Cleveland Bay Horse. They are still, sadly, listed as Catagory 1 Critically Endangered by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. Although owners know how wonderfully versatile our horses are we need to get this message out to other potential owners and breeders.
Please try to do something on Sunday 6th if you are able to. Can you organise a sponsored ride with friends? Are there any existing rides in your area that you can join in with? What about getting out in public driving your horses? Don't forget you could also get a non ridden horse or youngster out and about - last year we had owners taking their horses out for a walk and chatting to people about the breed. Even better if you are able to raise a little money or make a donation to the society.
Please let CBHS know if you are organising anything and we can help to promote this by using the website and Facebook page. Whatever you can do please don't forget to send in your details and photograph's to include in one of our publications.
